In 2011, the introduction of an Essential Driver Training (EDT) was one of the driving forces for which the RSA School of Motoring has become a response to. What the EDT stipulates is that for learner drivers to be able to sit their driving test, they needed to earn a certificate from an RSA authorised driving instructor. In order to ensure that you are fully prepared before you sit for your driving test, a certification can only be issued after going through 12 one hour lessons taken within a six-month period. With the EDT stipulation in place, this means that all learner drivers are given enough time to master driving techniques with the aim of becoming competent and safe on he road. RSA School of Motoring has heeded the call of ensuring that only able drivers are able to get on the road by making sure that each EDT course is taught properly by specially trained instructors.
