The Institute runs a Consultant Clinic to treat patients with diabetes cholesterol disorders Obesity and other endocrine disorders such as Adrenal dysfunction menstrual and ovulation disorders if secondary to abnormal hormone production,and pituitary disorders. The Clinic also has an interest in calcium ,osteoporosis and parathyroid gland disorders. Patients may attend for diagnosis treatment or just for a once off consultation. The clinic is run by Prof Tomkin who has an international reputation and who has published many papers on Diabetes. He is President of Diabetes Ireland, and past president of the Association of Physicians of Great Britain and Ireland.Prof Tomkin was Vice President of the Europran Association for the study of diabetes and was involved in the European Union funded Islet cell transplantation programme. Dr Owens PhD H Dip Ed is a scientist involved in the research programme of the Institute but as a qualified teacher looks after education of patients with Diabetes. Dr Mark Cahill looks after the diabetic eyes and Lelia Haval is the nutritionist attached to the Institute.
